Oh yes. Winter is definitely gone now and it’s time for the summer—if the rain will ever stop!

We got some new faces rocking ThirtyTwo/etnies in Europe, and I want to take the chance and welcome them to the family, and present them to everybody with this little update as well.

Danny Larsen, our Norwegian rock star of the year, is back home enjoying the summer. He had to study for some marketing exams after the late season film session up in Folgefonna with the pirates. But now he has time to enjoy skating and the Norwegian summer. He will go up to Fogefonna and Stryn again soon, though, and then to Italy to film his intro for the new Pirates movie. After that, his plans are not made yet: maybe some surfing, maybe NZ—we’ll see and be back with more news!

Little Young Gun Ståle Sandbech from Norway just celebrated his 14th Birthday on June 3rd. Happy Birthday! He also just got from a trip to Stryn where he went with his brother to shoot some photos and enjoy the slushy snow. Next stop for Ståle will be Folgefonna in two weeks!

snowjuly1

Thomas Harstad had a busy end of the season. After a photo shoot with Spy in Italy, he went to Zurich for the MMP intro shoot. Check out his part in the new movie “Green,” coming out this fall. After that he went to Croatia for an Elan product meeting and finally back home to Oslo. In a few days he will pack his bags again and head to Amsterdam for an O’Neill meeting and then back to Norway—Stryn exactly, to get some summer riding done. After that it’s time for a vacation. Thomas already rented a house in Bali and will stay there for a month- to work on his tan and his surf skills!

snowjuly2

Jakob Wilhelmson just got back from a two week vacation in the US with his girlfriend. After a busy season, filming with Mack Dawg in the states and doing some competitions in Europe and China, he is looking forward to enjoy the Swedish summer now, enjoy the time with his girlfriend, play golf, go biking and just relax. But he is already planning a trip to Stryn, Norway and to NZ for some summer riding.

snowjuly3

Our Swede Martin Sandberg just got back from a vacation in the US with some of his friends. The old poker face went to Las Vegas to do some gambling and enjoy the casinos. Now Martin is back home, enjoying midsummer, and will soon be heading to Italy for the Pirate Movie Intro Shoot. Check out their new masterpiece “Walk the Plank”, which will be coming out in September.

Jaakko Seppälä is finally back home in Finland as well after a long season in Canada where he has been filming for the new alterna-movie “Apples and Oranges”. He’s now skating a lot and planning some gigs with his band for the summer. In July Jaakko will head to Folgefonna for some summer riding.

snowjuly4

Finland’s Miikka Hast just got back from a trip to Bali, where he enjoyed surfing and diving, cheap seafood and Bintang. He did a diving course at the Gili Islands and enjoyed the change from frozen water to tropical sea life. Now he is back in Rovaniemi, Finland where the sun doesn’t set at all anymore and summer parties and festival are going off. But it won’t be long before Miikka will be back on snow. His next trip is taking him to Les Deux Alpes for a week of summer snowboarding and then it’s time for NZ beginning of August.

snowjuly5

Remi Lamazouere just got back from a two week trip to Hossegor for both- business and pleasure. He visited his other sponsors and caught some waves. Now he’s back home in Grenoble getting ready to head to Les Deux Alpes at the end of the month. Remi is also planning to head to Chile this summer to shoot some stuff with Eric Bergeri.

German shredder Simon Schweiger is back. After breaking his collarbone and a couple of weeks off the board he is finally ready to ride again. Simon has been filming with the Gypsies this winter, so wait for the movie and check out his part. You can also download a movie project called “Brettspiel” that he was filming now!

Enjoy the summer!

What happened to the winter? It’s officially spring and everyone seems to be scrambling to get in as much shredding as they can before the snow melts. Well, here’s a quick update on the etnies/32 team.

Fredrik Austbo was lurking somewhere in Tahoe with the Standard Films crew trying to bag as many days filming as possible until he had to go back to Europe for a demo (booo-hooo). Freddy was on the never-ending contest circuit for majority of the winter. He flew out to Tahoe mid-March purchased a snowmobile so he can continue to go into the backcountry (or what’s left of the backcountry) with the Hatchets and then had to make his way back to Europe for some demo for his Bank sponsor. Freddy plans on heading back to the states to wrap up the rest of the season with the Hatchets so be on the look out for Freddy in Standard's new film due out sometime in September.

Dustin Craven recently won the Shakedown taking home a whopping $15,000 Canadian! (that’s almost $14,950 USD) Dustin pulled off a front side 1080 to tailslide front 270 out of the box. He said it was a blast and he pretty much stayed intoxicated the entire time. Way to go Craven! Dustin’s been filming with the Capita crew all season long so be sure to check out more information on the Capita Team video due to be out sometime this fall.

John Jackson has been on a mission this season. Back and forth from Canada to Idaho and back to Canada in search of clear skies and powder! He’s been filming with Standard all season long and from the looks of it, Jackson should have another banging part this season. Be sure to check out more info and the latest news and premiere dates.

Benji Ritchie is having a great season, he’s been busy filming all season with the White Out crew. He even got to hang out with legendary Gerry Lopez at Baldface this winter.

markkumethod
Markku Koski kicking one out.

Markku Koski and Stian Solberg have been traveling together for the last few months in search of the next slaughter fest. They’ve been up and down the West Coast filming with the Defective crew. They’re in South Lake Tahoe right now on a Stepchild photo shoot. They’ll be there all week bagging in as many park shots for the new video as possible.

Tyler Lepore recently celebrated his birthday on April 11th with some of his good friends in Vancouver, BC. Happy birthday Rabbit! Ty’s been filming with the Capita crew all season long. He reported the local resorts in Vancouver have been the best it’s ever been this season. He’s a little sad that the season is coming to an end but stoked to check out how the Capita video will turn out.

Janna Meyen has been keeping up with her physical therapy and working towards getting back on her shred stick. She’ll be coaching this summer at High Cascade summer camp along with Wille Yli-Luoma and Leanne Pelosi so if you haven’t signed up... You should go secure your spot.

partypelosi
Party Pelosi at her finest, just moments before drunk dialing her TM at 2:30am.

Hampus Mosesson was last seen in Are, Sweden at the Burton Halfpipe invitational where he placed fourth. Good work Hampus! Hampus has been traveling back and forth from Europe to the states filming with Mack Dawg all season long. Be sure to check back here soon for more info on premiere dates.

Leanne Pelosi... A.k.a. Party Pelosi has been busy filming for her part in the new Runway film all season long. She was last seen in San Francisco on an etniesGirl photo shoot. She along with a few other girls were invited to the men's superpark in Keystone this last weekend. Her next destination? Who knows, maybe your neck of the woods...

Wille Yli-Luoma spent the last few weeks in Alaska trying to take advantage of the record breaking snow they’ve been getting this season. He was up there with the Mack Dawg crew trying to milk the last bit of pow. He’s back in Portland sipping on some java and getting situated with his newly purchased home. Be sure to check out Wille’s signature session at High Cascade snowboard camp this summer.

In other news...

Marie-France Roy celebrated her Birthday April 17th! Happy Birthday Marie-France!

Global warming is in full effect but that’s not going to stop the etnies/32 team. Here’s a quick glance at what our riders are up to.

Fredrik Austbo gets back in the swing of competing and snowboarding everyday. He recently competed in the O'Neill Pro-Freestyle event in Avoriaz, France (February 3, 2007). Placing 7th in the quarter pipe event. He said his knee is feeling super solid and he’s stoked to get his shred on. Freddy will be heading out to the states to start filming with Standard Films crew and hopes to spend most of his season traveling all over North America.

Dustin Craven has been on a mission ever since the season has started. He’s been on the road filming with the rest of the Capita crew hitting up spots all over Calgary and the Interior BC. Who knows where he’ll end up with in the next several days. Maybe in your neck of the woods. Speaking of Dustin, stay tuned for his new interview and team page!

John Jackson headed straight to Whistler after the X Games to get back into filming and shooting photos. He’ll be heading to the secret spot some time this week to explore and continue filming then off to the interior BC to put in his time with the Heli.

Markku Koski was feeling great and doing well at the X Games but during his first run of the qualifying round, his binding completely blew out causing him to slam into the second wall of the pipe. It was pretty unexpected and Markku took it like a champ. He said he suffered a charley horse to his upper leg but that didn’t stop him. He had the binding strap replaced and went straight up to the top of the pipe. After taking his second run he missed the final by a few points. Better luck next time Markku.

Shortly after the X Games, Markku and Stian Solberg ventured out to Southern Colorado to film for the Stepchild team video and shoot photos. They managed to get in a few good days of hiking and building kickers. Be sure to check out the teaser!

On a mission... Tyler Lepore has been busy filming with the Capita crew. You can peep the teaser here. Tyler will be heading to Mt. Baker for the Legendary banked slalom this weekend. Speaking of being on a mission, Tyler and a few others will be making their way to an exclusive area sometime in the near future. The plans have been put in place but as long as the stars are aligned they’ll be on a mission. More info to come as their plans come together.

The injured list...

Janna Meyen reported two torn ligaments in her ankle and a badly bruised bone. While practicing her switch 900’s at Keystone, Janna took a flat landing on her back foot causing an uncomfortable pain which took her out of the X Games. She reported positive feelings and will be concentrating on physical therapy for the next few months. Good luck Janna! Keep up the PMA!

Hamp-man or shall I say Hampus Mosesson gave it his all during the 11th winter X Games. Hampus didn’t quite make the podium but he definitely showed the world he was capable of handling any kind of obstacle. He’s back in Salt Lake City, UT planning a route to head to Tahoe or Canada where he’ll be filming with Mack Dawg.

Multi-Tasker Leanne Pelosi is keeping herself quite busy these days. After placing 6th in the women’s slope style at the X games she bounced back to Whistler where she went right into filming and shooting photos for her film project, Runway films. Later this weekend she’ll be heading to the Legendary Banked Slalom at Mt. Baker, WA. Be sure to check out her teaser.

Benji Ritchie will continue to film with Whiteout Films this season. He’s been on the road filming and shooting photos between Whistler and the interior BC. He’s on his way to Mt. Baker where he’ll challenge the roster of shredders hoping to knock out some of the big time players.

Back to the states...Stian Solberg made it back to California not too long ago where he purchased a brand new truck (Nissan Titan) and drove straight out to Utah to pick up his brothers sled. He met up with Markku Koski in Aspen and shortly after the X games drove to Southern Colorado to start filming and shooting photos. He’s back in Utah at the moment waiting for news on the latest conditions. Once again, be sure to check out the Stepchild teaser.

The Great Northwest is where Wille Yli-Luoma can be found. Wille’s been back and forth from Mt. Baker to Portland clocking in some mileage. He’ll be headed to Mt. Baker for the banked slalom along with the rest of the North west crews. He’s been working on getting his work visa renewed so he’ll be heading up to Canada some time next week to meet with officials. It’s also Wille’s birthday Friday February 9th, Happy Birthday Wille!

That’s it for now. Till next time, pray for SNOW!

First Team Report of '07! http://etniessnow.com/blog/2007/01/12/first-team-report-of-07/ Fri, 12 Jan 2007 15:08:50 UTC Team Reports The Latest International http://etniessnow.com/blog/2007/01/12/first-team-report-of-07/ Check it out, peeps! Happy New Year! Here's a little update on what our snow team has been up to...

fradrickbackflip
Fredrik backflips the jumps at Breckenridge, Colorado.

Fredrik Austbo is back on track and feeling 100%. He was spotted having fun in the park in Colorado early in the season with the Norwegian team. Fredrik’s back in Europe right now, getting ready for a little TTR Series action and then he's off to the European Open. He’ll be competing in a handful of contests and then he plans on heading to the States to start filming with Standard Films.

We here at etnies wanted to congratulate Markku Koski for the bronze medal he won at the Winter Olympics last year, so we actually bronzed the boots Markku wore during the event. Congratulations again, Markku! He recently placed third at the O’Neill Evolution Superpipe Contest this past weekend, as well as a TTR event in Davos, Switzerland. Markku will stay in Europe to compete in the European Open in Swtizerland and then head to Colorado for the Winter X Games later this month.

John Jackson will be heading out to the Secret Spot somewhere in Idaho with the Standard Films crew. He’s pretty amped to get back out into the backcountry. He’ll be there for a couple of weeks and then head to Aspen for the Winter X Games. John will be competing in the Slopestyle event, so be sure to check back here on the site for results.

Tyler Lepore continues to enjoy the deep powder sessions in the local mountains of Vancouver, BC. He will be focusing his energy filming with the Capita crew this Winter. They don’t have a name for the video yet, so be sure to check back for more details.

markkujan07
Markku Koski on the podium at the O’Neill Evolution Superpipe contest in Davos, Switzerland.

Janna Meyen has been enjoying the massive amounts of snow in the Northwest. The only thing she’s been up to since I last talked to her was shredding lots of powder and snowmobiling. She’s currently heading to Colorado to ride Breckenridge and Keystone and practice for the Winter X Games. Can Janna keep her title as gold medalist and possibly be the first athlete to five-peat? We’ll be rooting for Janna!

Congratulations to Hampus Mosesson for winning the first TTR event in China! The winning run consisted of a backside 720, a frontside 360 shifty and a 360 bonk off the barrel. Hampus made the TTR top 30 rank, so he’ll be given an opportunity to keep shining as long as he’s into it. Hampus will make his way toward the States later this month to start filming with the Mack Dawg crew this season.

hampusnashua
Hampus winning the fifth annual Nanshen Open in China.

Leanne Pelosi, or shall I say Multi-Tasker-Pelosi, is working on another film project this season. Yes, it’s true! The film company is called Runway Films and they will showcase a handful of the best female shredders in the world. In addition, she’ll be heading to Colorado to attend the Zumiez 100K, and shortly after that, she’ll be competing at the Honda Sessions in Vail. Leanne will also compete in the Winter X Games on January 25-29 in Aspen, Colorado. Good luck, Leanne! We’ll be rooting for you!

Our French Canadian hunter Benji Ritchie will be heading to Whistler to start filming again with White Out films. He drove straight through Canada from his hometown in Quebec shortly after the new year. Forty-nine hours and one speeding ticket. Damn 5.0!

stianpowder
Stian in deep concentration.

Stian Solberg has been snowboarding in Norway with his brother and friends. He’ll be making his way to the States to start filming with Defective Films this month. Stian will be here for the next few months chasing the snow with the rest of the Defective crew.

Wille Yli-Luoma spent some quality time in Europe with his family and daughter Lilou over the holidays. He’s back in the States now, engulfed in some powder somewhere in the Northwest. Wille will be focusing his efforts this season on another banging part with Mack Dawg films. After taking some time away from filming with them last season, Wille’s pretty stoked to be working with Brad and the rest of the Dawger crew this year. That’s all for now. Keep praying for snow.

Upcoming Events:

Honda Vail Sessions, January 11-14 in Vail, Colorado
European Open, January 20-27 in Laax, Switzerland
SIA Trade Show, January 22-25 in Las Vegas, Nevada
Winter X Games, January 25-29 in Aspen, Colorado

etnies 20-Year Anniversary NYC April 6, 2006

Tyler Lepore survived the etnies 20 year Anniversary despite meeting a few strange NYC vets. He went crazy buying up tons of art books and a few special items for a special person. He’s back in Vancouver shredding local resorts as well as hitting up Whistler when it’s good. Ty’s been busy this season with snowboarding, home improving and maintaining his passion for doodling and working on his bike. You may catch him tossing back a few wildcats in Kevin Sansalone’s new film scheduled to be released this fall.

Tyler and friend
Tyler and friend caught off guard.

Benji Ritchie, A.K.A. Loose Lips, is back in Whistler after the NYC extravaganza. He’s still going out in the backcountry where it just keeps snowing and snowing. Benji’s been filming with the Whiteout crew all season so be sure to check out his part later this fall.

Way to go guys!

Stian Solberg has been on a mission this season. He flew from Norway straight to Canada earlier this season to dive right into being the road warrior all season long. He’s been filming with Defective films all season and shooting with various photographers. You might catch Stian along the West Coast during the Young & Restless tour with some of the other shredders like Eric Jackson and Freddy Austbo. Be sure to check www.thirtytwo.com for details.

Here’s a sneak peak at what Stian’s been doing all season.

Jussi Tarvainen took a little bit of a break from snow shredding this month due to a slight knee injury. Nothing serious just landed flat one too many times but he’s been a trooper all season long. He’s stoked on his work visa so he’s been livin’ it up as a foreigner living the Cali dream. Jussi’s been filming with the Mack Dawg crew all winter so be sure to check him out. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed...

stian markku bday

Last but not least, Wille Yli-Luoma’s nowhere to be found. Just kidding! Wille’s been on a crazy mission this season. He’s been filming with the Volcom crew and from what I gather, he’s been killing it. I can’t wait to see the footage ‘cuz some of the lines I’ve seen him do, I can’t even comprehend. Just check out this line he did last month. Be sure to check him in the new Volcom flick.

Here’s the crew checking out a zone for some Pow-pleasure...E-Jack, John J, Spike, and Zim.

“Spring showers...May brings flowers” is slightly an understatement this season. Even the saying “Miracle March” is a month off...at least for the West Coast it is. Check out what some of the ThirtyTwo/etnies Snow team riders have been up too:

ejack
Here’s a shot of E-Jack pointing out his lines.

Fredrik Austbo is chillin’ on the coach recovering from his knee surgery. Unfortunately, he blew out his knee before the Olympics and didn’t realize it until after all the excitement. He’s doing well and keeping a positive attitude about everything. Luckily, he’s so young he’ll be bouncing back in no time. Good Luck Freddy, we’ll see you soon. Oh yeah and happy belated birthday. Freddy just turned 18 on April 20th. 4/20? What?

john j
John J spotting his landing. You can see him slay this jump in the new Standard films out this fall.

John and Eric Jackson have been quite the busy bro’s this season. They’ve been spending the whole season destroying where ever they go. They’ve been up and down the West Coast and ventured out to Montana a handful of times. They’re in Whistler right now slaying it with Standard films. They’ve encountered a few roadblocks during their mission but nothings stopping them from having fun and killing it in the backcountry. If you haven’t checked out the new Snowboard magazine lately, you should cause The Jackson brothers have a full interview in there explaining their passion for shredding. It’s pretty cool. Anyways, they’ll continue to slaughter ‘til this summer. If you want to try and meet these guys, you may get lucky at the premiere of Standard films sometime this fall. Be sure to check for dates and details.

Polaris
That’s right kids, its not all that fun in the backcountry when your sled burns down. E-jack watching a brand new Polaris 900 sled burn straight to the dirt.

Markku Koski has been in the US for a bit now getting his shred on. He’s been hanging out in Tahoe with the Defective crew filming and shooting photos. He’ll be in the states til the end of April then back to Finland for a bit and then off to Lapland or Hemsedal, Norway. Check out some of the images from the Sierra at Tahoe shoot. Be on the look out for Markku in the Defective film scheduled to be released sometime fall of 2007.

The crew heading out to “the secret spot...”

All right, gang, here’s a quick update on the etnies Snow team. A lot of major stuff has gone down since New Year's. As you probably already know from reading all the recent headlines, Hampus Mosesson won the X-Box Big Day Out and Markku Koski went and got himself all bronzed at the 2006 Winter Olympics! In other etnies Snow news…

Eric Jackson and John Jackson are both out on the road, trying to get some backcountry shots. Eric spent the last few weeks in the Northwest. He was planning on heading up to Terrace, BC to go on a heli trip with Standard Films, but he got delayed, so now he’s hanging in Washington and chillin' in the wet conditions. John has been out in Montana getting the goods, but he’ll soon make his way to Japan for the Slopetyle contest.

lines
Don’t you wish you were doing this? Girls having a blast! Leanne, Lexi and Hana.

Tyler Lepore was last seen in Whistler, hitting up some secret spots and filming and shooting with Kevin Sansalone and Sandbox Films.

Back up in Canada, Benji Ritchie has been back and forth from Whistler to the interior, filming and sledding with the White Out crew. He reported that he’s been having a great season so far.

stian card
After a hectic day of getting Sean Johnson’s truck to the shop, Stian had to drop in on a new starter $450! Yikes!

Stian Solberg flew straight to Canada from Norway about a month ago to take on North America as a road warrior. He’s been on a mission, driving from Whistler to Salt Lake to Montana and then back to Lake Tahoe to shoot for Defective Films. Stian has encountered a few road nightmares, but is keeping his spirits up.

After a hectic day of getting Sean Johnson’s truck to the shop, Stian had to drop $450 on a new starter! Yikes. Good thing he had a decent day on Saturday. He stomped a handful of tricks somewhere in the backcountry of the Sierras. Stian’s plans for the next few weeks include a short trip down to etnies Snow headquarters for a quick lifestyle shoot and then back up to Whistler. Ah, the good ol’ life of a pro snowboarder on the road.

Jussi Tarvainen has been in the States for the last few weeks, filming and hitting up the backcountry around the Tahoe area. He was recently chillin' in BroCal with fellow shred buddy Shaun McKay. They got in a quick surf session down in the OC, then went up to Bear Mountain to judge the Wide Open contest. Now they’re on the road heading back to Tahoe, where they’ll be filming and sledding for the next week or so.

stian truck
Road battles suck!! (Fy-faen!)

Now let's look back up at the Northwest, where Wille Yli-Luoma’s been living for the last year or so. He has also been on the road mission lately, slaughtering it back and forth from Montana, Jackson Hole and Washington. He’s been focusing on filming with the Volcom crew this year. Wille’s had a handful of the best days of his life at Mt. Baker. He’ll be hanging out in the great Northwest for now until mother nature calls.

Upcoming Events
March 1-5 Vans Cup, Northstar at Tahoe, California
March 9-12 Slopestyle contest, Japan
March 15-20 U.S. Open at Stratton, Vermont

Until next time, keep the dream alive!

Congratulations to Hampus Mosesson for winning the Air & Style in Munich, Germany!

Freddy Austbo and Thomas Harstad planned to get their early shred on in Mammoth but since the snow conditions weren't up to par, they fled to Whistler to ride some pow. Freddy Austbo is actually trying out for the Norwegian Olympic team so he'll be competing at the Grand Prix in Breckenridge and then heading out to a few more FIS contest to rank some scores. Good luck Freddy! Mean while Thomas will be following the snow.

Eric and John Jackson are hanging in Mammoth getting their sleds ready to hit up the back country. The brotha's will be filming with Standard films again this season and competing in a handful of events through out the winter such as the Sessions at Vail and alternates for the X Games.

snowmobile
Tandem!

Markku Koski is in Whistler right now training for the Olympics or at least getting ready to compete to score some points for the Olympics. Markku will be competing in a handful of the FIS competition to score enough points to make it on the Finnish Olympic team. Good luck Markku. I'm sure there are some fans out there who want to witness the 1440 again.

Janna Meyen
is already gathering footage for her part in the Volcom movie. She's been at it since Baker opened up early November of this year. She's somewhere out in the back country filming and bagging shots. Way to go Janna!

Tyler Lepore has been shredding Mt. Baker as well as some of the local spots around Vancouver. He's been renovating his bathroom and getting ready to hit the road again so he's been pretty swamped...no pun intended.

pelosi
There's really no disputing the cuteness factor of this photo

Leanne Pelosi and Alexis Waite
are on a five-day road trip with the etnies Girl crew covering a photo shoot up the coast of Cali. They'll be stopping at random spots to cause some havoc. Their final destination will be SF and then back to the mountains. They'll be shredding Park City, UT this week to practice for the Roxy Chicken Jam. Good luck girls!

Benji Ritchie is getting his shred on back east. He's hanging out in Quebec getting his early season start at Mt. Tremblant. He'll be making his way towards the West Coast later this month so he can start filming and shooting photos again. Benji will continue to work with the White out crew this year filming all over Canada, Europe and where ever the snow drops.

Stian Solberg
broke his collar bone shredding Mammoth early season. He was rushed to the hospital where he went under the knife right away scoring himself a nice titanium rod through his shoulder. He's doing fine and recovering right now back in Norway. His spirits are up and positive. Not exactly how he wanted to start the season off. Stian's planning on heading back to the states after New Years to start filming with Defective films and get back in the groove.

Jussi Tarvainen is pumped to be riding Talma. He reported that the jumps there are super fun and the spirits are at its all time high. He'll continue to film with Absinth films this season traveling back and forth from Europe to the states.

Not stoked

Wille Yli-Luoma has been livin’ it up in the Pacific North West. He's getting ready for the season and has been out already with the Volcom crew shredding Mt. Baker. He's pretty fired up this season since he'll be focusing on filming with the Veeco family.

Party Pelosi!

Be sure to check out Leanne Pelosi in the winter issue of Salt magazine. She's been on fire lately, getting tons of coverage. I think she mentioned something about ESPN and Snowboard Canada. She also won female rider of the year from Snowboarder magazine. Congratulations "Party Pelosi!"

That's about if for now. Keep checking back for more news!

Can you believe September's almost over? Its not even cold enough to shred but snowboarders are out'n about getting their shred on.

Check out what some of the etnies/ThirtyTwo team riders are up to...

Leanne Pelosi won both Rider of the Year and Readers Choice at the Transworld 7th Annual Riders Poll. Chad Otterstrom who's also a flow rider won the Rider of the Year. Congratulations to both of them!

John Jackson recently got back from Japan terrorizing some shops with a few of his other colleagues from Planet Earth. He's on his way up to San Francisco for a contest somewhere in the city. If you haven't seen John's part in Standard Films (Paradox), you're missing out. Get the dvd and check out John's part, it's pretty sick.

Markku Koski is somewhere down unda'. He was last seen in Australia with the Quik team and then in New Zealand. He reported that he was having a great time skating and shredding when the weather and conditions were decent and having fun with some good friends. He'll be heading back to Finland for bit to figure out his game plan for the season.

Tyler Lepore recently drove down to Southern California to attend the premiere of Oakley's Community Project. He along with some of his good friends spent all last season filming all over the globe collecting some impressive yet creative lines in snowboarding. Tyler was also lurking in some obscure places around the Transworlds Riders Poll... Or was he? Ty will be on the never ending traveling circuit for the next month. He flew down to Southern California to attend the ThirtyTwo catalog photo shoot and then off to Seattle for a premiere for a bunch of kids and then he'll be off to Japan for a week, then back to Canada and then off to the East Coast of Canada. Good work Ty.

Benji Ritchie went back to Quebec to chill out with his fams for the time being. He'll be there for a few weeks catching up on some family time and then plans to head back to Whistler where he'll be hustling early winter. Make sure you check out the Big Blind at Whiteout films. Benji's video part pretty much explains his talents.

Janna Meyen ventured down to New Zealand to shred for a month or so. She's having such a good time down there she claims she doesn't want to come home! Maybe she's over doing the Vegemite? Who knows. Anyways, she's already committed to film all year long with the Volcom crew and is off to a good start.

Leanne Pelosi drove her new Volvo S50 down to Southern California a few weeks ago to attend the TW awards along with some of the other snowboarding premieres like the Misschief premiere AS if. She was so overwhelmed with winning two awards and keeping her stoke up that she lost her voice during the tradeshow. She chilled out for the time being until she graced her presence at the Hot Dawgs Rail Contest. She drove back to Whistler where she'll be getting ready to move into her new apartment in Vancouver. She's slated for a handful of interviews with Transworld Japan, Snowboard Canada, Fuel TV and Salt magazine this month. So be on the look out for her comments and insights from her successful year. Way to go L-Peezy!

Alexis Waite jumped on a plane right after the ASR tradeshow to attend a few video premieres in Europe supporting her video part in Misschief's "AS if". She was caught hanging out with some friends in Switzerland and then found herself wondering aimlessly in Cyprus. Yes Cyprus. She wanted to explore more of Europe but found herself in situations you wouldn't want to be in. Unfortunately, she had her rental car broken into and her purse along with her wallet and credit cards got stolen. They even stole her jeans and clothes. Luckily, they missed her passport and her return ticket back to Switzerland so she made it back in one piece. She's back in the States right now hoping to get caught up on some bills and some down time with her new pooch. She'll be heading to Whistler later this week to attend some premieres and then head down the West Coast on a Quik/Roxy RV tour making a few stops down the coast. If you're lucky maybe you'll see her along the way.

Wille Yli-Luoma just got back from visiting his daughter and family. He spent a couple of weeks hanging with Lilou (see lead photo) for her fifth birthday, yes fifth. Wille's back in Portland where he'll be attending a few premiere's in the North West and then heading to Colorado for some shop demos. Be on the look out for Wille's part in Mack Dawg's new release From___With Love.

As for the B-team riders, Laura Hadar and Keegan Valaika won big at the Hot Dawgs Rail Jam in Big Bear, CA. Laura and Keegan kept the crowd alive with their smooth yet aggressive styles. Keegan pretty much dominated over all the other competitors by mixing up his bag of tricks, stomping frontside 270's boardslides, to gaping the middle rail and airing over the staircase with his old school style mutes. Laura stepped it up with frontside 270 boardslides to her stylish back smith. Both of them took home a nice chunk of change keeping their stoke alive! Congratulations to both of them for kicking some arse.

Get ready cause the winter is just around the corner...

International Snow Team Report 08-16-05 http://etniessnow.com/blog/2005/08/16/international-snow-team-report-08-16-05/ Tue, 16 Aug 2005 22:49:07 UTC Team Reports http://etniessnow.com/blog/2005/08/16/international-snow-team-report-08-16-05/ Well, yes, in fact, Summer in Europe seems to be over already. The middle part of the continent didn’t even really get any warm weather, but the Scandinavians, on the other hand, seemed to have a great Summer.

Let’s start up with Jussi Tarvainen. He spent his Summer in good old Finland, where he went surfing and skateboarding and worked on several art projects. This guy is always busy doing something. You would almost think that he doesn’t have any free time. Jussi spent the last couple of weeks trying to get a visa to visit the States. He’s planning to spend more time there next season to shoot and film and enjoy the good parks and backcountry.

Hampus Mosesson spent his Summer in Sweden, partying, golfing and hanging out with his buddies. By the way, he also entered his first golf comp and did pretty good. (Not only because of the great etnies golf shoes!) Beginning of next month, Hampus will join Markku Koski, Freddy Austbo and other fellow Quik shredders on a trip to Australia and New Zealand, where they will attend the Oakley Style Wars contest, and shoot and film as much as possible.

Bali: That’s where Thomas Harstad spent his Summer. And I’m sure he definitely got a real Summer feeling over there, as surfing, chilling on the beach and working on his tan were his major activities. Right now, Thomas is getting ready to attend the Storbis video premiere in Helsinki, Finland on August 26, where he will enjoy a hell of a party with all his fellow Storbis friends. The first Storbis premiere will be held at Badeanstalt, Leopoldstr. 250 in Munich, Germany on August 20! Don’t miss it!

Swedish up-and-blasting young shredder Chris Sörman enjoyed his Summer at full throttle! First of all, he went on a trip to Folgefonna and Stryn. Folgefonna was okay. The jumps were small, but he got a couple of good shots anyway. Stryn awaited Chris with sunshine and warm weather, a pretty big jump, a good corner and other fun stuff. After all that hard work, Chris pulled off a heavy pool party at his parents’ house, went skateboarding and hung out with his friends. Right now, Chris is enjoying the sun and warm weather in Alanya.

Our European lady shredder Cuca Aranda is on her way to Argentina with a couple of photographers. She’s finally back on her board, and ready to start the season. She planned this trip quite a while ago, and now she’s really excited to actually go to South America. Cuca spent most of her Summer in Spain, cruising from beach to beach, always searching for the best waves.

French rider Remi Lamazouere just got a spot in the Nidecker pro team. Congratulations, Remi!

The rest of the gang is still enjoying Summer, but they will be back with some snow news pretty soon, as the first fresh flakes have already fallen on the peaks of our mountains! Aight!
