The 11th Hour, Revisited
Posted by: Brink | Friday, November 30, 2007
The following is a letter from Leonardo DiCaprio about the film, The 11th Hour, that opened in theaters in Fall 2007. The documentary features Sole Technology and etnies owner and president, Pierre Andre Senizergues and his efforts in going green, including the etnies SEED Project.
Friends,
I am writing to tell you about my new environmental film, “The 11th Hour.” The film documents the environmental crises we face and the solutions we must begin to implement.
With the help of over fifty of the world's most prominent thinkers and activists, including reformer Mikhail Gorbachev, physicist Stephen Hawking, and Nobel Prize winner Wangari Maathai, “The 11th Hour” documents the grave problems facing the planet's life systems. Global warming, deforestation, mass species extinction, and depletion of the oceans' habitats are all addressed.
However, the most powerful element of “The 11th Hour” is not a portrait of a planet in crisis, but an offering of hope and solutions. The film ends with a call for restorative action through reshaping human activity.
“The 11th Hour” will be released on DVD soon You can go to www.11thhouraction.com to get more information on the movie. We need the message of this movie to hit as far and wide as possible. The hope is us. Let's begin.
Thank You,
Leonardo DiCaprio

etnies Iceland Jacket Review Breaks Bones!
Posted by: Travis | Tuesday, November 27, 2007
Joe Sketch over at Crossfire went to the hospital wearing our new Iceland Jacket. While at the Kings College Accident and Emergency ward, Joe put the jacket through pretty much every test you could think of and even invented new uses for it; like converting the hood into a handy note holder and head rest.
Unfortunately Joe broke his scaphoid, but in doing so he wrote a very entertaining review.

Our New AM!
Posted by: Travis | Wednesday, November 21, 2007
etnies and ThirtyTwo are amped to announce their newest am rider Ståle Sandbech. Born in Rykkin, Norway, this 14-year-old has been etching his name in the industry for the last six years.
Last season, he was seen blowing up Hemsedal and caught in Snowboarder, Playboard and Method magazines. You may have peeped his part in the “Up in the Sky” video or saw him on the podium after winning the Norwegian National Championships last year. Other than snowboarding, you can find this kid skating with friends and spending quality time with the ladies. Ståle has definitely been turning some heads on the mountain and will continue for years to come.
“Ståle has amazing natural talent and style that make him a great addition to the ThirtyTwo am program,” said Eddie Lee, etnies and ThirtyTwo snow team manager. “Welcome to the team!”

Euro Team Update

Hey winter lovers and snow flake addicts. Winter in Europe is coming closer and closer, so we are crossing our fingers to get buried with snow this year. In the meantime I have some news from our European etnies/ThirtyTwo team:
November 7th is Danny Larsen’s birthday. Happy birthday Danny! He will be heading to Paris this weekend for another Pirate’s “Walk the Plank” premiere and of course to celebrate his birthday. After that, it’s study time for another week, then he will hopefully have the chance to get some snow under his board. He already had his first session last weekend in Norway with Ståle Sandbech - our favorite ThirtyTwo Euro grom in Kirkerud, Norway.
Slovenia’s Matevz Pristavec went to Hintertux for some early season glacier riding. The conditions were really good with hard takeoff’s and slushy landings. But then winter kicked in and it became quite icy. After that he had a team photo-shoot with Elan. Then he traveled from Hintertux to Slovenia, back to Tux and then to Dachstein for his last day. They were quite lucky with the weather and were able to get some good shots. Matevz will be heading to Sweden mid-November to compete at the Winter-Jam Big Air contest in Stockholm.
Heppu Pentti just got back from a trip to Portugal. He went surfing and enjoyed the waves, sun and his new surfboard. This weekend, Heppu will attend the Slammer Gala and Board Expo - which is a guarantee for good parties. After that he plans on going riding and doing some photo-shoots to test the new Icon Boards. He is also just about to release a new album with his band Rad Natas. www.myspace.com/radnatas

- Rider: Remi Lamazouere
Miikka Hast went to Hintertux in October with the Finnish mafia. They had good conditions and a great time while there. He also got to spend a couple precious nights at home before heading off to Ruka, Finland for their resort opening day. Unfortunately the weather was terrible and they had to close the resort for a while. The Board Expo was in Helsinki last weekend, so he popped on down south again. The event was fun with lots of "Hello’s and what up’s", like always. Now the rain has turned into snow in Lapland and Miikka hopes to get some fresh snow in Ruka.
Switzerland’s Nicholas Wolken is getting settled into his new home in Innsbruck and has started studying at the university. He spends most of his free time in Hintertux and just recently went on a photo-shoot with Playboard Magazine. Next stop will be the Pleasure Jam at Dachstein. Let’s cross our fingers for some good weather. Dachstein has a lot of snow already, but the weather is always a big risk.

- Rider: Nicholas Wolken
Mario Käppeli just got some screws removed from his hand, which have been there for quit a while. Mario will also be heading to Dachstein, Austria for the Pleasure Jam and then he’s headed to Sweden for the FIS Big Air Contest that will be held in Stockholm during the Winter Jam.
After his trip to the Mondial Du Snow, Remi Lamazouere is heading to Paris for a photo-shoot with Rip Curl. Then, he might head to Hintertux, Austria for some park riding, or maybe to Breckenridge to warm up for the season.
Jakob Wilhelmson is heading to Canada for a life-style shoot November 10th-15th. He is crossing his fingers for some snow to ride while there. After that, he’ll be staying in Sweden for a bit to ride his home resort.
Martin Sandberg is home in Sweden and getting ready for the first snow. It has gotten cold up north already but hasn’t snowed, so he will wait and hope for the best.
Simon Schweiger just had the same fate as Mario and got some screws taken out of his collarbone. He is now back on his board and enjoying the first snow in Austria’s mountains.

- Rider: Mario Kaeppeli
Danny Larsen Has a Birthday!
