etnies & Mike Relm Giveaway!

relmcontest

Born and raised in what has become known as the mecca of turntablism, San Francisco, Mike Relm played a critical role in the skratch music movement of the late 90's producing records and events. "Skratchcon 2000", which he directed, is to skratching what "A Great Day In Harlem" is to jazz. He made his debut on the silver screen on Doug Pray's award winning film "Scratch", where he was documented in a studio jam session with DJ Shadow. Relm's unmistakable style also led to a collaboration with Money Mark for music on "Along Came Polly" (Universal, 2004). Upon meeting director John Hamburg during the studio session, Relm was brought on to appear in several of the film's scenes.

Mike Relm has become a worldwide leader in the visual arts. He transforms every stage into his personal film festival, manipulating music and movies live to awestruck audiences. Never before has anyone attempted such an act, and it has been called the most brilliant thing a DJ has ever done on stage.

Mike Relm is also a good friend of etnies, so we decided to feature him as the September artist of the month and hold a little contest. Fill out the form for your chance to win an etnies and Mike Relm prize pack!

(Big Bear Lake, Calif., Wednesday, September 12, 2007) - Southern California's most exciting summer snowboard contest, Hot Dawgz & Hand Rails (HD & HR), is taking place at Bear Mountain on Saturday,September 15, 2007 and today BBMR is releasing the names of the pro riders who will compete in this year’s event. With $12,000 in cash prizes on the line (and $1,000 for Best Trick), three movie premieres, autograph sessions, product giveaways and more, this year’s event promises to be one of the best yet!

Sponsored by Electric, Planet Earth, Vestal, Thirtytwo, Fuel TV and more, HD & HR is free and open to the public; however, the snowboarding competition is for invited, professional snowboarders only. The event will feature a unique setup that will test the skills of some of the best jibbers in the world.

Some of the world class riders scheduled to compete include: Lucas Magoon, Chris Bradshaw, Cory Cronk, Keegan Valaika, Yale Caousino, Zak Hale, Pat Milbery, JP Walker, Seth Huot, Simon Chamberlain, Lauri Heiskari, Louie Vito, Nima Jalali, Erin Comstock, Leanne Pelosi and Hana Beaman.

"When HD & HR was created four seasons ago, we really didn't know how successful it would become, but this unique late-summer event exceeded all our expectations with more than 4,500 people in attendance,” said Kim Hermon, Asst. Director of Marketing for Big Bear Mountain Resorts. “We are expecting HD & HR to draw more people this year and it should be an even larger spectacle as the event evolves into more of a pre-winter festival at Bear Mountain."

“This year’s HD & HR will have all new jibs for competitors to destroy, such as the first ever planter box gap, three-inch down flat down, Euro gap-gateway box, bank-to-tank and over 8 jibs to choose from with endless options and more,” said Clayton Shoemaker, HD & HR contestant and rail builder.

In addition to the competition part of HD & HR, the event will feature the premiere of Mack Dawg Productions’ new film “Picture This” and Bear Mountain’s new movie “Sunday.” HD & HR will also include a sponsor booth city, special event-only season pass rollback prices, professional rider autograph sessions, 2008 Fashion Show, product giveaways, DJ’s, BBQ’s, the Beach Bar, tons of snow and some of the top-ranked snowboarders in the world battling it out for $12,000 in cash prizes. HD & HR will also host a benefit for Boarding for Breast Cancer.

HD & HR will be covered by several media outlets and numerous Southern California radio stations will be involved in the promotion of the event. The event begins at 2:00 p.m. Finals are at 6:00 p.m. The awards ceremony at 7:00 p.m. will be followed by the two world snowboarding movie premieres.
"The last few years there have been literally more cameras capturing the event than there are riders competing. It has definitely become a major media affair," explained Hermon.
