Snow News!
Posted by: Brink | Friday, March 30, 2007

You won't believe it, but winter finally found its way to Europe. It's been dumping in the Alps, and most people got to ride some powder - at least for a couple of days.
Norwegian up-and-coming energy bunny Ståle Sandbech just won the Norwegian Championships in both slopestyle and halfpipe. Earlier in the month he already won the Junior Quarterpipe contest at The Arctic Challenge and Terje, the master himself, said that Ståle is the most talented young Norwegian rider right now. Who would dare to disagree with Terje?
Norwegian Rockstar of the year, Mr. Danny Larsen, has been traveling around Austria most of this month. He's been busy shooting with the Pirates to film for his video part. Danny will head to Laax, for the Pleasure Spring Session in April, and then to Italy for a photoshoot and a little demo in the Cervinia Snow Park.
Thomas Harstad is still in the States. He's been in Tahoe for four weeks already and filming with the MMP crew and shooting and riding as much as possible. He's been shooting with Espen Lystad and thinking about staying in the US for a couple more weeks.

Remi Lamazouere from France went on a trip to Bulgaria with Dragon and Peter Lundström from Onboard. They had perfect conditions and two big snowfalls with 50 cm of fresh snow each time. They went to a spot that will become a ski resort in the future but is not open to the public yet. They found backcountry jumps, jibs, powder runs and came back home more than satisfied with big smiles on their faces.
Finnish rider Tomi Savela just got awarded two titles at the Aesthetiker Waengl Taengl Contest in Mayrhofen Austria last weekend. It was one of the last 3 star TTR contests for this season and Tomi took home the award for the best line and the best trick. Not bad at all...

Mr. Nice Guy Simon Schweiger from Germany had quite a succesful March as well. He won the Nice and Landed contest in Lech, Austria and pulled off a technical and smooth run in the slopestyle contest. Simon is quiet, but when it comes to snowboarding he is a style master for sure and kills every jump. He headed to the Pyrenees, Spain for the Total Fight, which is the last TTR contest this winter, and will tear the park apart.
Congratulations to all our boys. Have fun out there and take care!

From Norway...

From one of our flow riders, Andrew Hardingham comes a lovely tale of a trip to Norway...
Norway, I was like WOW, "No r way no R this place is cool." The women have fantastic bone structure and the dudes like to party. I like a good bone structure and I love to party, so this seemed to be the perfect place for me. Although it cost $7,983.50 to take a cab five blocks, I wouldn't let it faze me. The best part about Norway was I wasn't raped by a single Viking and I didn't see one church burnt to the ground by Norwegian death metal bands. I'd say we hit it good.

To give you a quick, less boring tour of our trip, I'll start with the arctic challenge. Terje had a new baby three days before he sets a new world record on a quarterpipe at 9.8 meters. 10 meters gets you a $50,000 gold Oakley watch. Kind of weird he didn't just go 20 cms higher and get the watch. Then I see Dustin Craven at a bar later that night, we meet in the middle for a "it's been way to long" hug, then proceed to drink water because we are both mormons saving our selves for marriage and booze gets us both into gross sex with devil girls. We walk the streets of Oslo till 6 AM trying to get mugged. No one takes the bait. Too bad.

Even though Dustin has to ride finals the next day we push on 'till the sun comes up. Little D lost the comp but we had a cool Zinc party and ate reindeer meat. That night we partied with some of the most aggressive chicks I've ever met. Dustin had to fly to Japan that night so we left him for the remainder of the trip.
2.5 feet or 70 cm of powder fell on Hemsidal and then it was GO TIME! Sansalone and I shredded that place like it was an incriminating document. After three days we headed to Voss and killed it in the rain. Wallrides and scrambled eggs. Pretty cool. I drove while Kevin slept the whole way back to Oslo, all eight hours of it (prick). Kev left but I stayed an extra day so I could drink tea, ride a BMX bike, sing Moulin Rouge cover songs and have a pillow fight with four gorgeous Norwegians. 'Twas the best trip ever!!!

Facts about Norway:
- The vikings raped and pillaged.
- If you have a sauna you have to go naked or they'll think your'e gay.
- You can't haggle with taxi drivers in Oslo. Because they wear shorts in the sauna.

The shoes will be available in stores this June. Stay tuned to etnies.com for more exclusive news, info and surprises from etnies and Club Tattoo!

For Guys
Both men’s styles utilize traditional Japanese art and a variation on a dragon design. The Bernie (left above) integrates a Koi fish with a dragon which represents courage, luck and strength in Eastern culture. The Fakie (right above) continues the traditional Eastern art theme with a design that depicts an ancient perspective of a mythical creature that often protects and symbolizes strength.
For Girls
The women’s Bernie (pictured on the left) has a rose design which is derived from a passion for femininity. A common choice for representing a diverse attitude regarding integrating body art into lifestyle, the art is traditional in nature, with a modern flair. The women’s Fakie (on the right) features a dove which symbolizes peace and tranquility. It is a very traditional tattoo art design with an updated twist.

20 Boards + 20 Artists = 1 Fight!

20 ARTISTS, 20 BOARDS, 1 FIGHT
VANCOUVER, BC. February 14, 2007 -- 20 local artists and a skateboard manufacturer have teamed-up to create an inspiring art exhibition of 20 hand-painted boards that commemorate the Push For The Cure skaters and continues their honorable fight against breast cancer.
Last summer, Canadians were moved by Push for the Cure: the story of four young men, skateboarding a record-breaking 7,000 km across Canada to raise funds and awareness for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Push for the Cure rider, Rob Lewis summarized: “We are not doing this because someone we know has been diagnosed; we’re doing it because someone we know will be.” Rob and fellow riders Aaron Jackson, Benjamin Jordan and Carlos Koppen were joined by hundreds of Vancouver area skaters on the final 3-day stretch from Hope to Stanley Park in October 2006.
For this latest fundraising event, local board manufacturer, RAYNE, has donated 20 unique skateboards to be assigned to a local artist. The boards will be painted for an art exhibit and silent auction at the Library Square Public House (330 W Georgia St @ Hamilton) on Thursday, March 8th, at 9pm. Proceeds will be donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, BC/Yukon Chapter.
