The long-awaited follow-up to 2003’s Deftones is deceptively tuneful and alarmingly heavy, see-sawing between melancholy reflection and jaw-clenching frustration like a manic depressive refusing his meds. Saturday Night Wrist incorporates disparate elements of hard rock, heavy metal, punk, classic, alternative and electronic music within its tumultuous grooves.

Overall, Saturday Night Wrist is experimental and innovative, it overflows with undeniable hooks, which serve as reminders that first and foremost, Deftones will always be about strong, emotionally resonant songs. Today’s Deftones have emerged stronger, smarter and more excited as a result of their experience. The end result of that is Saturday Night Wrist.

To celebrate the new Deftones album, etnies and the band are holding a contest to giveaway an ESP guitar signed by the band, free etnies shoes, pink Nokia cell phones and more! All you have to do is fill out this form and we will choose the three lucky winners soon! Good luck!

December Team Report!

Andreas Moen

Snow’s falling so dust off the shred sticks and get ready to make some turns.
Here’s a little update on what the etnies/ThirtyTwo snow team riders are up to.

Eric Jackson recently got back from Europe striking a pose from the Quiksilver photo shoot. He’s off to Mt. Baker this week to shred some powder since the North West has been getting pounded. Eric will be on a mission this season filming heavily with Standard films.

John Jackson recently joined the Rossignal snow team and is currently in Europe right now attending a Rossy photo shoot. John’s plans for the season is to slaughter the backcountry as well as attend a handful of contests such as the winter X Games and the Honda Sessions. John will also continue to film with Standard films.

Tyler Lepore, along with the rest of the Canadians are enjoying the nice early season. Fortunately, Mother nature’s been kind enough to bless the North with cold enough conditions to cover the city (Vancouver) with over a 18 inches of snow. Tyler will be concentrating on filming with the Capita crew on a team video this season so be sure to look for more info in the near future.

Janna Meyen is pretty much ready to take on the world. She’s pretty stoked to charge this season with everything that she’s got! She plans on competing in some of the major competitions this season (Winter X Games, US Open). She just got a new snowmobile so she’s out in the backcountry right now breaking it in.

Hampus!

Leanne Pelosi has been charging rails in Vancouver. She’s been on a mission this season trying to get an early start on filming and shooting photos.

Benji Ritchie is in Europe right now with Rossignol on a catalog photo shoot. Benji will continue to film with White Out films this season and dominate the backcountry.

Wille Yli-Luoma charged up to Mt. Baker to catch the early season dumping. Wille will be filming with Mack Dawg this season and working on some of his own ideas with Mack Dawg so be on the look out.

From the Euro side...What’s hot and what’s not?

Hampus Mosesson
has been traveling quite a bit so far! He was in Chamonix/France, Sölden/Austria, where he jumped into a pool straight from the catwalk of the Quiksilver fashion show in full-on snowboard gear just to get 200 euros from Jakob and win a bet Now our Swedish snus* addict and womanizer is warming up in Austria before heading to Munich on Wednesday to defend his title at the Air & Style in Munich's Olympic Stadium.

Stian!

After Air&Style, Hampus might go to Japan for the Nissan X-Trial where he is still on the riders' stand by list. His next big travel will lead him to China, where he is invited to a contest beginning of January!

*Snus pronounced like "snoose" is manufactured and mainly consumed in Sweden and Norway The guys squeeze the packages filled with tobacco under their lip to get the full nicotine kick. Not really attractive I have to say, but the Swedes and Norwegians love it!

Markku
started into the new season fully motivated. He has a new board sponsors, Stepchild, and is already traveling around Europe searching for snow. After a trip to Saas Fee, where he did a FIS World Cup and won the qualification, he is now back in Finland and heading to Ruka to ride and have fun and warm up for the Nissan X-Trial in Japan which will happen on December 9th-10th.

After a trip to Stockholm to do the Winter Jam Big Air contest and enjoy the Swedish party night life, Stian is now back in Bergen, waiting for the rain to stop and to finally enjoy some snow. He will stay in Norway fro Christmas and New Year and then head to the US to start filming and shooting.

cuca

Freddy Austbö is in Norway, chilling, riding and having fun back home.He as well is waiting for the big snow fall!

Thomas is in the states, searching for snow with his buddies. Since Europe is not too blessed with heavy snow fall so far, Thomas enjoys the waist deep powder......

Jussi is in Finland, concentrating on the rehab of his knee. He says it's healing slowly but steadily.

Our Spanish lady Shred Dawg Cuca Aranda is finanlly back in Europe after 7 months in Australia and just started studying medicine. But nevertheless she is already working on her plans for this season. She will organize a Girls Snowboard Camp in Huesca, Spain, and ride as much powder as possible.

andreas2

Our Slovenian ThirtyTwo rider, Matevz Pristavec just won the Ballantine's Urban Freestyle contest in Barcelona/Spain. Congratulations, Matevz!

Andreas Moen,
from Norway, is getting ready for his trip to Mammoth. He wants to prepare for the season there. In January he will compete at the European Open in Laax, and then start filming with the Pirate Crew from Austria again. Check out his part in this years’ movie Lubedence. Andreas just got the cover of a Chinese Snowboard Mag!

French ThirtyTwo rider Remi Lamazouere is riding in Val D’Isere at the moment, doing a photo shoot there, and getting ready for some real snow. He just got the cover of the French Snow Magazine. A month full of cover shots for our team riders! How sick is that?!
