Working it. Just some interested fans...

Wednesday morning we drove through Oregon into Washington where we stopped off to visit out friends at Mervin Manufacturing. This was a nice treat to see Jeannine James and Trevor Phillips. They gave us the grand tour of Mervin, which was a nice treat for Freddy and I since we’ve never been there before. It was really cool to see how they make all their tooling as well as all their boards. I guess we can call ourselves lucky since not too many people get a chance to see a little bit of Snowboarding culture. Anyways, after our little tour we decided to go skate the Ballard bowl.

This was one of Freddy’s favorite boards. Love at first sight.

We hooked up with the Mervin crew that night for their annual premiere of Standard films at the Premiere club in Seattle. It was an all age show so it made it easy for Freddy and Eric to attend. After E-Jack and Freddy got busy in the van with some fans, we charged up to Vancouver and luckily made it through the boarder without any hassles. Check back soon for more updates!Peace for now…West-sy-eeed!

Check out my co-pilot after a few hours on the road. Jet lag kickin in...

The Young & the Restless Tour got started off on Monday the 9th of October. Freddy and I jumped in the team van to hit the road from etnies/ThirtyTwo Headquarters Monday morning (Yeah! Road Trip!!!). We took the long drive up towards Redding California. There we met up with non other than Eric Jackson, a.k.a. E-Jack. Eric was on his yearly fishing trip up in the Trinity Lake area the week prior to our trip enjoy mother natures finest. We picked him up just outside of Redding California and checked in to a hotel.

The next morning we charged towards the Oregon boarder. We were feeling a little antsy so we stopped off at the Ashland skatepark (Southern Oregon) to stretch out our legs and get our grind on. It was pretty cool to have the whole skate park to ourselves. Shortly after our skate mission we ventured into Beaverton where we stopped off and had a little bbq feast with Chris Owen and his wife Amber.

Just another dope sunset along the Left Coast!

We blazed through Weed county. No pun intended.

World Traveller: Markku Koski!

chillin
Markku's cold chillin'!

Here's a letter from Markku Koski himself!

So, the reason why we did this around the world trip was that the plane ticket to New Zealand was more expensive than an around the world ticket! So we just decided to have a couple more stops for the same price.

nz
New Zealand!

I went on tour with Miikka Hast and Janne Korpi from Finland. Anyway, we started off by flying to Singapore for a few days just to hang out and check out the city. It was really nice and clean. I'm pretty stoked on that place. Then we flew to NZ for the actual "trip." We just rode for a month and had a shoot with Quiksilver. Super fun times and everything was built perfectly at Snow Park, the resort where we rode.

BummerAlert! A week before the end of our stay in NZ I hurt my shoulder on a windy day on a jump. It wasn’t too bad though, but I couldn’t ride anymore.

drink
Feeling tropical?

Then we flew to Fiji for five days to chill out at the beach and surf. I’ve never been to such a hot place and it wasn’t even the hottest season.

After that we went to Hawaii for a week to surf there as well. We checked out some pipelines but the water stayed flat most of the time so we decided to stay at Waikiki, Honolulu. It was good but bad nightlife though, haha.

NYC
NYC!

On the way back home we stayed in NYC for three days. I was stoked to check it out. We were full on tourists and checked out every corner of Manhattan. Went to a gig of this band “Raconteurs”. They are pretty good so you should check them out. We also tried to spot celebrities but all we saw was Usher and we were over that. It was time to go back home! Until next time...

- Markku

So just this week I got a bunch of contest entries on homemade postcards taken from beer cartons and Pringles boxes. Hmmm. What does this say about what y'all are doin' in your spare time? Munchies? I dunno, but sounds like some heartburn waiting to happen!
