etnies Presents: SPACEJUNK Art Opening:

Thursday, October 20, 2005: 7pm-11pm

Sole Technology R&D Building
26921 Fuerte Drive
Lake Forest, CA 92630

Enjoy food, drinks, live music and artwork by featured European artists:

Nicolas Thomas
Long before Nicolas ever picked up a paintbrush, he was riding a skateboard and snowboard. He is most known for his use of vivid color, numerous materials and various techniques. His ubiquitous use of fine lines in his paintings gives his figures a fragmented look, as if trapped within an imaginary world.

Léonard Accorsi
From drawings to abstract paintings, the work of this impassioned artist is the result of a tragic-comic view of the world. Léo possesses a unique vision that is represented in his work; black yet not dark, opinionated yet unbiased, the work of this snowboarder is an open door into the imagination of daily life.

Gallery hours:

Friday, Oct. 21–Saturday, Oct. 22: 10am-7pm (during etnies GvR contest)
Sunday, Oct. 23: 10am-3pm
Monday, Oct. 24: 10am-5pm

Exhibition continuing October 21st-24th with live painting demonstrations and artist meet and greet.

About SPACEJUNK:

Euro Team report

Hampus Mosesson already started the season in Australia and New Zealand. He went down under together with his Quiksilver fellows Freddy Austbo and Markku Koski. They had a good time, playing loads of golf, attending a photoshoot, skating and sightseeing. Just back in Sweden, Hampus packed up his stuff again and flew to the States. He’s gonna visit Sole Technologies and enjoy the last bit of summer in SoCal before winter’s calling in Europe.

jussi

Jussi Tarvainen went to the States in September to visit friends, ASR and attend the Futureproof Premier in Newport Beach. After that, home to Finland for a day, and then to Zürich for another Premier of Futureproof. From there he went to Munich, Germany the next day, stopped by in Innsbruck at the Method Mag office for an interview and then back to Finland. Home for a day and off to Norway for another Absinthe Premiere. In Oslo he hung out with Thomas Harstad, went surfing at a really rocky and scary spot with the Norwegians and had a pretty good time with the Vikings. Now he’s waiting for his Visa for the States so he can go film there during the winter and spend some time over the big pond. In the meantime he is working on some art stuff and the new Trulli website. See Jussi in Absinthe’s Futureproof and the Trulli Love movie, and cruise by the Method Mag website to check out his interview.

thomas

Mr. Partyking Thomas Harstad is in Norway. He’s enjoying being home and hanging out with his friends. After all the premieres with the Storbis gang, he is trying to get some rest before he starts another season of filming with those crazy guys, and searching for the best snow in Europe and the States.

Our Spanish lady ripper, Cuca Aranda, just got back from her first trip to South America, where she was riding non-stop and had a lot of fun. Conditions down there weren’t that great, but Cuca enjoyed the trip nonetheless. Since she spent her last season doing rehab and trying to get her back fixed, she really enjoyed being back on her board. Oh, and, she celebrated her birthday on September 29th. Congratulations Chica!

chris freestyle

Chris Sörman should be a familiar name to most. He’s killing it! After his vacation in Turkey, he came to Zürich, Switzerland to do the pre-qualification of the Freestyle.ch, and guess what. He won it! After a long party night in Zürich’s most famous “Rohstofflager,” he even fought his way to fifth place in the finals, and was super stoked about the fun weekend, and the nice prize money he could take home to Sweden. Watch out for Chris. You’ll hear more of him the coming season for sure.

That's about it for now. More updates soon!
