Snow Team Report 07-26-04

John Jackson is still hanging out in Oregon, filming with Standard Films. Rumor has it that he and his crew of delinquents were caught causing havoc in a little town called Government Camp. Knowing his crew, I'm sure the rumors are true...
Markku Koski will be chillin' with his girlfriend in Vancouver, BC for the week. He'll be heading to Washington to visit with the Mervin crew later this week and then plans on heading back home to Finlandia. Markku's been riding the glaciers of Whistler / Blackcomb for the last couple of weeks. Be sure to check him out in TransWorld Snowboarding magazine issue number 17.2. It covers the Finnish crew (aka the Trulli Clan).
Tyler Lepore, or shall I say the Domesticated Tyler Lepore, has been busy getting settled into his new crib, and luckily, he's got some good housemates to share his hefty mortgage. Ty's been busy finishing up his board graphics, as well as some other art projects, and mowing the lawn. He'll be taking off for New Zealand later this week with the Snowboarder staff to heli-venture into Kiwi land. Ty'll be there for a few weeks, soaking in the Kiwi culture and eating lots of vegemite. Yum!

Benji Ritchie recently got back from his European tour and has been soaking in a little bit of rest and relaxation to rejuvenate his stoke for the upcoming season. He's been taking some time off from snowboarding to hang out with his friends and family in Quebec, Canada. Benji will be taking off for Australia in early August with his outerwear sponsor (Billabong) for a few weeks, shooting photos for their catalog. Make sure to check out Benji in Standard Films upcoming release, Lost In Transition, during the ASR trade show. Details for the premiere are below.
Janna Meyen is focusing on her rehab, staying healthy and doing well. She will have a short segment in the new Kids Know video production Love/Hate, scheduled to be released sometime during the ASR trade show, so look out for details.
Alexis Waite reported that the MGT summer camp is going very well and the response has been amazing. She'll be coaching and hanging out with all the little kiddies for the rest of this week and then plans on heading back to Bend, Oregon to chill out in her new house.
Wille Yli-Luoma was prepared to drive down to Southern California from Oregon last week, but decided to head back to Mt. Hood because he wasn't too stoked on the amount of footage he had for his part in Mack Dawg's upcoming film, Chulksmack. Unfortunately, due to the massive impact he endured during the Abdominal Snow Jam, his ankles weren't too stoked on him landing flat every time he blasted out of the pipe, so he's taking the week off to give them a break (no pun intended). Hopefully, we'll be graced by his presence once he decides to head back down to Bro Cal.

John Jackson has been hanging out at home trying to organize a trip with Standard Films and possibly TransWorld Snowboarding mag down South to New Zealand. If everything goes well, he'll be taking off for a few weeks later this month. He's sitting on a good amount of footage for his part in Standard Films Lost in Transition, but still wants to document more bangers.
Markku Koski recently had his cast removed, so he'll be focused on rehab for the next few weeks. He said his arm is feeling a lot better, and he plans to take off later this month for some Summer shredding in Europe. Markku's also planning on heading to Vancouver to visit his girlfriend sometime in August. He's also sitting on some hefty footage for Lost in Transition, as well as photos for a few interviews and tons of editorial exposure. Be sure to check updates for latest news on his interviews.
Tyler Lepore is a proud homeowner. He recently purchased a new house in East Vancouver, BC. He's been slaving away on board graphics, T-shirt designs, working on his cut and paste magazine and moving into his new house. He'll be busy for the next several weeks getting settled, as well as doing a little bit of Summer shredding at Blackcomb. Congratulations, Tyler! Happy home owning!
Benji Ritchie recently ventured out to Europe for the Summer camps with his board sponsor (Rossignol). He'll be in Europe until July 14 and then head back home for a short bit until he hits the road again. He may head down to the Southern Hemis for a little bit to film with Standard Films, but nothing's been finalized. Benji will have a segment in Lost in Transition, so be sure to look out for him in the near future.
Janna Meyen had a few setbacks since her knee surgery. She's been attending physical therapy consistently for the last couple of months, but since she developed a large amount of scare tissue in her knee, she had to undergo a few scopes, so she'll be taking the rest of the Summer to rehab and hopefully get back on the snow early next season.
Alexis Waite recently dropped-in on a house in Bend, Oregon so she's another proud home owner. Congratulations, Alexis! She just took ownership last week, so she's been busy moving in and getting settled. Alexis drove down to Mt. Hood last week to meet up with the etnies R&D crew to test out some new samples, then drove back to Bend to move in. Now she's back in Mt. Hood as a guest coach at High Cascade snowboard camp for the rest of the Summer.
Wille Yli-Luoma flew to Portland, Oregon to join the rest of the etnies R&D team to test out some new 2005 samples last week. He spent a few days at Mt. Hood flying in and out of the pipes / hips, escalating more than twenty feet, an easy ten to fifteen feet higher than anyone else. In fact, he recently scored himself a nice $4,500 Rolex this past weekend by winning the highest air in the quarterpipe contest at the Abominable Snow Jam in Mt. Hood. Wille was blasting out of the quarterpipe reaching somewhere in the ball park of twenty-five feet. After a few attempts at the quarterpipe, he landed on the deck, causing him to bruise a couple of his ribs and his ankles. But that didn't stop him. Congratulations, Wille!
B-team rider Leanne Pelosi took 1st place at the Rail Jam contest held at Windell's camp last week. She pulled off an impressive front board slide and received a nice lunch box filled with $1,000 cash. Leanne ended up tossing a hundred single bills out to the campers, causing a huge pile-up at Windell's camp grounds. Congratulations, Leanne, and thanks for the beers! Leanne will be coaching at HCSC for the rest of the summer and then heading back to Whistler after that. She'll be gearing up for her Winter snowboard camp for girls only. Look out for more details later.
Upcoming Events
July - August 2004: Summer shredding at Mt. Hood, Oregon; Camp of Champions, Whistler; SPC Camp, Russia; Folgefonna, Norway
September 2004: Standard Films Lost In Transition World Premiere in San Diego, California
